Hundreds walked the Westhill High School track Sunday in honor of lost loved ones. The Out of the Darkness Community Walk was hosted at the school to support suicide prevention.
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention partnered with The Stephanie Becker Fund to organize the event. Stephanie Becker was a former Westhill student who tragically passed away last year.
Before the walk began, a tennis court dedication ceremony was held for Stephanie. The court’s new backboard was dedicated to the former athlete to honor her memory.
Several other local organizations helped plan the walk, such as the BBYO and Jewish Community Center. Organizers say they expect the event to raise over $2,000 to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
